Margaret T. “Marge” Bulzomi (nee Kuhn), age 92, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain following a brief illness.
Born in Lorain on May 16, 1929 to the late Louis and Elizabeth (nee Karney) Kuhn Sr., she attended Lorain city schools and completed secretarial courses at Lorain Business College. She remained a life-long resident of the city.
In 1978, Lorain County Commissioner Fred Ritenauer appointed Marge as his administrative assistant and served on various committees in his behalf. In 1983, Governor Richard Celeste appointed her as the Deputy Registrar for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in downtown Lorain. She retired in 1998.
Marge was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church both in Lorain. She was an active member of the Democratic Party in Lorain for several years and a member of the Lorain Democrat Women’s Club having served as president for two terms. Elected by the Lorain 4th ward, Marge served in the 1980’s as Precinct Committee Woman.
Marge and her husband loved spending their winters in Ft. Myers, Florida. She enjoyed singing with local bands and supper clubs starting in the 1950’s through the 1980’s. During the 1980’s, Marge, along with her dear sister, Betty, enjoyed bus trips to casinos and lunches with their girlfriends.
Surviving is her sister, Betty Yacobozzi of Lorain; daughters-in-law, Nancy Kozich of Lorain and Helen Bulzomi of North Dakota; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Michael “Mike” Bulzomi in 2004; son, Donald Kozich; stepson, Darryl Bulzomi; stepdaughter, Judy Helmbrook; brothers, Louis Kuhn and Edward Kuhn; and a granddaughter, Hanna Kozich.
Marge’s family wishes to extend their most heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care that she received at Avon Cleveland Clinic and Mercy New Life Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of closing prayers at 11:00 am in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 418 W. 18th Street, Lorain. Rev. James P. Schmitz, pastor of St. Leo the Great Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
