Margaret E. Lasky

Margaret E. Lasky (nee Kerecz), age 83, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015, at her residence while under the care of Crossroads Hospice, following a lengthy illness.
Born July 2, 1931 in Lorain, she moved to Elyria in 1953 where she has lived since. Margaret graduated from Clearview High School in 1949 and received a nursing diploma in 1952 from St. Alexis School of Nursing in Cleveland.
Margaret worked as a registered nurse at Lorain Community Hospital for 26 years, retiring in 1996. Prior to this she worked at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain for over 10 years. During her nursing career, she worked mostly in the pediatric and orthopedic departments.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elyria, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, also having served as secretary. Margaret was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with family and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed antiquing.
Margaret was survived by her children, Rachelle M. (John) Bilz of Oberlin, Rebecca L. (Benita Chernyk) Lasky of Shaker Heights, John J. (Lisa) Lasky, James D. (Debra) Lasky and Renee T. (David) Martin all of Elyria; loving grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 2; sister of David A. (Elaine) Kerecz of Elyria and Barbara R. Blum of the State of Washington; a sister-in-law, Joan Kerecz of Avon and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Lasky in 1964; parents, Anthony and Helen (nee Mikola) Kerecz; and a brother, James J. Kerecz.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where the Altar and Rosary Society will conduct a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 9:30 in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
