Margaret Elizabeth Messer (nee Kinser), 84, of Van, West Virginia, died surrounded by her family at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born in West Virginia, she moved to Lorain in 1957 and liver her until moving to Avon in the 1970's. Following the death of he beloved husband, Harold Messer, in 1974, she returned to West Virginia in 1975.
Margaret spent many months at a time in Amherst, and attended First Baptist Church, Lorain.
She was an active member of the Van Senior Group in Van, West Virginia. Margaret also enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all whom she blessed with the memories of her life.
Survivors include daughters; Naomi F. Birkas, Jewel A. Dotson, Barbara J. Cumberledge all of Amherst, sons; Harold "Jabo" Messer Jr. of Van, West Virginia, and Robert Messer of Seth, West Virginia, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a brother; Earshel Kinser of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Harold Messer in 1974,
Her parents; Hiram Kinser and Tabitha Kinser (nee Ellis), brothers; Lorne Dale Kinser, Neil Kinser, and Emil Kinser, sisters; Celianne Johnson, Eunice Baldwin, and Bessie Nolan.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Robert Pricthard of Free will Baptist Church will officiate. Further services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison, West Virginia. Burial will be in Hart's Creek, West Virginia.
