Margaret Schon (nee Krafcik), 80, passed away peacefully at the Laurels Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on Saturday March 20, 2010.
Margaret was born in Lorain on August 4, 1929 and spent the majority her life there. She was a 1947 graduate of Lorain High School. Margaret was married to the late James R. Schon, and they raised 4 children together. Margaret always remained busy, spending her "retirement" working at the Dollar General on Pearl Avenue until the age of 75.
Margaret was an avid bingo player, playing at least twice a week. She was also a big fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Michele (Kenneth) Lane of Mt. Vernon, sons, James (Jane) of Lorain, Michael (Cristen) of Amherst, and daughter-in-law Debra of Biloxi, MS. She is also survived by a brother, Ray (Myra) Krafcik of Lorain . She was very close to her niece Marianne (Delmont) Molnar of Lorain. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Suzanne and Alan Lane, John, Matt, James and Amy Schon, Jason and Daniel Schon, and her great granddaughter, Ariana Schon.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Klemintina Krafcik; her husband of 36 years, James R. Schon in 1987, son, Gregory A. Schon in 2008, grandson, Douglas Lane, brothers John and Bernard, and sister, Mary.
Visitation will be at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. A graveside service and burial at Calvary Cemetery will immediately follow visitation with Rev. Charles Henkle, associate pastor of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain officiating.
