Maria "Mary" Flores, 58, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain, following a year long battle with colon cancer.
Born August 6, 1955 in Lorain, she was a life long resident of the city.
Mary worked as a chef at Red Lobster in North Olmstead for over 25 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She enjoyed interior decorating, traveling, shopping, computers, reading mystery stories and education books. She also was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and Browns and Ohio State Football. Mary loved her dog.
Surviving is her mother, Anna Flores-Cruz of Lorain; brothers, Paul Flores Jr. of Elyria, Dennis Flores and John Flores both of Lorain; a sister, Joan "Grace" Carlson of North Ridgeville; and 3 nieces and 2 great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Pablo Flores in 2007.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:45 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
