Maria "Amelia" Guzman (nee Roman), age 90, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
She was born on August 19, 1921, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, and moved to Lorain in 1961. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and was also a member of Las Damas. Amelia enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy, playing Dominoes, and watching her soap operas.
She is survived by her sons; Manuel, of Lorain and Hector, of FL, her daughters; Carmen (Rafael) Maldonado, of Lorain, Patty (Jose) Mendez, of Lorain, Isabel Guzman, of NY, and Carmen Bell, of Lorain, her 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a brother, Rafael Roman, of Puerto Rico, and a sister, Gloria Lopez, of Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Guzman, in 1969, son, Jose Antonio her parents; Juan and Martina (nee Melendez) Roman, and a brother and sister.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 22, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where closing prayers will be held the following morning, at 8:45 am. Her funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 am, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate
