Maria Lesiuk (nee Demianczuk), age 91, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2012, at Lake Pointe Nursing Facility, Lorain.
She was born in Ukraine, in 1921 and came to the United States in 1949, moving to Lorain in 1952. She and her husband, Omelan, owned and operated Mary's Lucheonette and O'Hara's Beverage, both in Lorain. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking, baking, painting, gardening, and embroidery.
Maria is survived by her son, Orest (Diane), her grandson, Mark, 3 step-grandchildren; Tracey, Joel, and Allison, and 3 step-great grandchildren; Jordan, Heidi, and Katie. She is also survived by her brother, Jakiw Demianczuk, of England, a sister, Anna Motrak-Demianczuk, of Ukraine, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins from all around the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omelan, in 1993, her parents, a brother, Peter, and 3 children.
The family will receive friends on Wed., April 18, fro 6-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a Panachida will be held at 8:30 pm. Prayers will also be held in the funeral home Thurs. morning, at 9 am, followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 am, at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Steven Paliwoda, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
