Maria Martinez, age 81, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011.
She was born on March 14, 1929 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1954.
Maria enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed collecting dolls, listening to music and dancing. She adored all animals and took great pride in helping people with whatever they needed.
She is survived by her sons: Eli (Rosemarie), of Lorain, Daniel (Rosa Maria), of North Ridgeville, Victor (Margarita), of Cleveland and Luis (Regalada), of Cleveland, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Bienvenido Martinez-Ruiz, a granddaughter, Jessica Martinez, and her parents: Hipolito and Saturna Carmona.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. The Rev. Gilbert Silva, Pastor of the House of Praise, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
