Maria Idalia Salas, (nee Trevino), 72, of Lorain, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born November 29, 1932 in Monterrey, Mexico, she lived in Bay City and Saginaw, Michigan before coming to Lorain in 1951.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed her home and traveling. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain.
Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Eliu G. Salas, sons, Larry of Watertown, Wisconsin, Michael of Lorain, Louis of Elyria, Alex of Toledo, and Eric of Lorain, a daughter, Virginia Kevorkian of Toledo, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brothers, Lupe Villareal of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Jose Villareal of Lorain, sisters, Martha Lopez of Lorain, Yolanda Salas of Omaha, Nebraska, and Maria Sepulveda of Lorain, and her guardian angel, Annette Aponte of Lorain, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sebero Trevino in 1935, and Petra (nee Sepulveda) Trevino in 1996, sons, Robert Salas in 2000, and Charles Salas in 1957.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
