Maria A. Vega

Maria A. Vega (nee Lopez), age 79 of Lorain, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, Ohio.

Born July 17, 1945, in Lares, Puerto Rico to Felix Lopez and Maria Gloria Acevedo, Maria moved with her husband to Lorain in the 1970s. She was known for her honesty and tough love, but her big heart. Maria was a wonderful caretaker who enjoyed caring for her own family as well as all those around her.

She was very skilled with needlepoint and enjoyed making blankets for her family. Maria also enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking and taking walks.

Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Cesar E. Vega; children, Cesar (Brandee) M. Vega, Haydee (Christian) Rivarola and Enrique Vega; grandchildren, Elijah Christian, Moriah Ava and Sophia Maria; as well as her sisters, Sonia Soto Acevedo and Gloria Acevedo as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents as well as her brothers, Fidel Lopez, Modesto Lopez, Efrain Lopez and Felix Lopez.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain. Obed Melendez, Life Celebrant, will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
