Maria A. Velez, (nee Rivera) age 92, of Lorain, died on Sunday, October 31, 2011 in the ER at Metro Health Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
She was born on April 2, 1919 in Lares, PR, living in Lorain since 1979.
Maria loved her garden especially her flowers.
She is survived by her son: Leonides Velez, of Saxton, FL, and daughters: Blanca Gerena, Judith Velez, both of Lorain and Mirta Velez, of Lakeland, FL, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, sisters: Maximina and Paula both of Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Angel in 2007, daughter: Marta Velez in 2006, son: Raul Velez in 1980 and brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Wed. November 2, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thurs. at 10:00 a.m. at Casa De Dios y Puerta Del Cielo, 220 E. 28th Street, Lorain. Rev. Tina Martinez, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
