Marian M. "Sally" Davidson

Marian M. "Sally" Davidson (nee Smerk), age 84, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Hearthstone, while under the care of New Life Hospice.
She was born on October 18, 1925 in Portage, PA. She moved to Cleveland in 1947, before finally moving to Lorain in 1954, where she has lived since. Marian was employed at Hills Dept. Store as a clerk and ticketer, for 22 years, retiring in 1982 when the store closed. After retirement, she then worked part-time for Life Care Ambulance for 9 years, as an office employee.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a "Den-Mother" for boy scouts, and enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army. Marian enjoyed ceramics, bowling, and cross stitching, as well as going camping. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Marian is survived by her son, Daniel (Gail), of LaGrange, daughter, Janet (Jerry) McKillip, of Lorain, 4 grandchildren; John and Matt Davidson, and Mindy and Lindsey McKillip, 3 great grandchildren; Jake, Alaina, and Aubrey, and sisters; Lois June Bednarski, of Lorain, Ruth Ann Edwards, of Portage, PA, and Mary Lou Lego, of Salix, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alvin L. "Cut", in 2003, her parents; Steve Michael and Martha (nee McDonnell) Smerk, brothers; George, James, Richard, and Stephen, and a sister, Shirley Madell.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 4, from 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services and burial will be private. The Rev. Jimmy Madsen, Pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
