Marshall M. Nibert, 83 of Wellington, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born July 20, 1928 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia to the late Charles and Maude (nee Miller) Nibert, he moved to Lorain, Ohio in the late 1940's. Since 2007, he has lived with his daughter Cheryl in Wellington.
Marshall was a veteran of the US Army. He worked as a welder for Thew Shovel Company, Lorain for 26 years, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of St. Lad's Club, American Slovak Club, Polish American Citizens Club, United Polish Club and the Hungarian Club. Marshall enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing the lottery, horse racing and was an avid fan of football and baseball.
Surviving are his children, Cheryl (Stan) Toledo of Wellington, Michael of North Carolina, David (Charlene) of Lorain, Kimberly (Jim) Cerney of Birmingham, Ohio, and Darrel (Linda) of S. Amherst, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Morris of Lorain, and Shirl of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va.; sisters, Pauline Wamsly and Ruth Hyatt both of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and Clarice Strickler of Alabama.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Marshall Lee in 1950; a granddaughter Celina Marie Toledo; brothers,Robert and Charles Frederick; sisters, Dottie Lou and Charlotte Krieg.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm in the Deal Funeral Home, Kanawha St., Point Pleasant, W.Va. Burial with military honors will follow in Lewis Cemetery, Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va.
