Marta Gomez, age 82, of Lorain, died on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 30, 1930 in the Dominican Republic. Marta moved to New York in 1970 then to Lorain in 1976.
Marta was employed in the cafeteria at Lowell Elementary School, Lorain, for many years.
She was a member of the Templo Emmanuel Church. She enjoyed walking, writing poems and was very dedicated to her church.
She is survived by her daughter: Lourdes Santana, of Lorain, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, step-brother: Julio Lora and step-sister: Cecilia Lora, both of Santo Domingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jose Garcia and Maria Gomez and sister: Carlota Lora.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12th from 7-9 p.m. in the Templo Emmanuel Church, 4230 Clinton Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Luis Cintron, will officiate.
