Martha Joan Kesterke, (nee Marks) 82 of Lorain, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 23, 1925 in Uniontown, PA, and has been a Lorain resident since 1953.
During the late 1960's, Martha and her husband owned and operated Chat & Chew restaurant in South Lorain. In the 1970's, she had worked as a cashier in the cafeteria of the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant.
Martha was a homemaker who enjoyed the time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, music, celebrating holidays and parties with her children and grandchildren. He favorite hobby was playing bingo.
Surviving are her sons, William O. (Sandi) Kesterke Jr. of Lorain, and Charles E. (Katrina) Kesterke of Elyria; daughters, Judith A. (Joseph) Makuch of Vermilion, Joan (James) Kaniaris of Columbus, 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Oliver Kesterke in 2002; parents, Clifford Marks and Helen (nee Reiger) Marks; a daughter, Cheryl Gyorfi in 2005; and several brothers and sisters.
Private services for the family were held at Dovin Funeral Home, Lorain.
