Martha Macilynsky of Lorain entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the age of 84.
Martha was born in Ukraine on July 19, 1940, to Constantine and Eustachia (nee Hopka) Macilynsky. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1949, settling in Maryland before moving to Lorain in 1951.
She graduated from Lorain High School, then received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Wayne State University and worked as a pharmacist for many years.
Martha was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lorain, where she was involved in church activities such as the perogi making ministry. In her younger days, she belonged to the Ukrainian Scouting Organization, enjoyed downhill and water skiing and playing tennis. When she moved to the Morningside Community, she participated in their recreational activities and playing cards.
Martha leaves behind cousins, George Klos and son Levko; Jarema “Jerry” Klos (Godson) and wife Karyn; Ostap “Steve” Macielinski and wife Anna with sons Andrew (Godson) and Damien; Daria Darewych and husband Jurij with children Danylo, Roman, and Lada; Oksana Klos-Korduba and children Tyrssa and Zdan. She will be missed.
She was welcomed to her rest by her mother, father, and cousin George Macielinski. Visitation will be Thursday, March 27th, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave., Lorain, from 10:00 a.m. until Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. The Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest Fr. Steven M. Paliwoda will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
