Martha Strasko

Martha J. Strasko (nee Salaj), age 82, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at University Hospital St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a short illness.

Born March 7, 1941, in Elyria, she lived in Elyria her entire life.  Martha graduated from Elyria High School in 1959 and worked as a secretary for Elyria City Schools for 31 years, retiring in 2002.

She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Lorain, the Avon and Avon Lake Senior Centers where she enjoyed playing pinochle and hand and foot.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Fun Bunch.

Martha enjoyed her family and grandchildren, bowling, bingo, playing cards and playing Texas holdem during Super Bowl parties.

Surviving are her sons, Steve (Kathy) Strasko of Lorain, and Mike Strasko of Elyria; and grandsons, Tom (Courtney), Cory and Jim.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Strasko as well as both of her parents, John Salaj and Mary (nee Mazor)

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd, Lorain.  Rev. Edgar Anthony will officiate.  Private burial will take place in Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.  The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
