Martha Zelinski, (nee Ray), age 90, of Lorain, died on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Elmcroft of Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Martha was born on July 1, 1925 in Dotson, Kansas, spending her early childhood years living in Dodge City. She graduated from Melrose High School, in Boston, Mass in 1942. She completed nursing school in Moldan, Mass before moving to Lorain in 1945.
She was employed as a RN in the ICU step down unit at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain for 28 years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Polish National Alliance and Church of St. Peter.
Martha enjoyed traveling the world, especially China, Thailand and Europe. She also enjoyed attending Broadway Shows and cruises.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Jim) Kexel, of Cape Haze, FL; granddaughter, Kerri Martin-Hoben, of San Anselmo, CA; fiancé, Bob Malherek, of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Alma (nee Kramer) Ray; husband, Phillip in 1988; a sister, Marilyn Hatch in 2003; and brother, William Ray.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 9:00 am. in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, 44053. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
