Mary "Baba" Baranchik, (nee Yuhas), 96 of Elyria, died Sunday, February 01, 2009 at Center Ridge Health Campus, North Ridgeville, following a lengthy illness.
Born April 1, 1912 in Pleasant City, Ohio, she has been a resident of Elyria for the past 68 years.
Mary worked as an inspector for Western Automatic in Elyria for 30 years, retiring in the late 1970's.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and she volunteered in the kitchen of the church, cooking.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and cooking.
Surviving is her daughter, Loretta Arnold of Kelley's Island, OH; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John, in 2001; brothers, John, Nick and Mike Yuhas; and sisters, Helen Beam and Ann Lesko.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where parastas will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th Street, Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
