Mary Cica, (nee Vorkavich) 97, of Lorain, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Seasons of Life Residence Hospice in Parma following a sudden illness.
She was born January 29, 1908 in Lorain, and has been a life long resident here.
She had worked at General Industries in Elyria during WWII. Prior to that she worked at National Tube in Lorain.
Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and serving as the family historian. Her home was a gathering place for her family and friends.
She was a member of St. Mark Serbian Orthodox Church, Sheffield Village, and the St. Mark's Ladies Guild.
Surviving is her son, Daniel Cica of Bay Village; daughter, Ellen Cook of North Royalton, 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Martha Ralich of Lorain; and nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Milovan Cica in 1986; daughter, Jean Bangus in Jan. if 2005, parents, Daniel Vorkavich and Anna (nee Vladic) Vorkavich; brothers, Nicholas, Wasil, Rudy, Milan, Eli and Michael; sisters, Mildred Bednarik, Sophia Bunevich, Agnes Malakar, and Dorothy Vorkavich.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, where a pomen service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Serbian Orthodox Church, 1434 Lake Breeze Road, Sheffield Village. Rev. Fr. Matic, of Youngstown, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
