Mary A. Janas (nee Piwowar), age 94, of Lorain, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 5, 2008.
She was born on March 17, 1914, in Buffalo, New York.
Mary was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Guild. She worked for many years at the LCCC Bookstore. She also worked at Tony's Meat Market, Januzzi Shoes, and at Ted Jacobs Department Store.
She enjoyed bowling, and was a member of senior bowling leagues for many years. Mary also enjoyed baking and cooking, as well as her cat and her flower beds, especially her roses.
She is survived by her daughters; Judith M. Janas, of Lorain and Kathleen A. (Gordon) Freeman, of Elyria, grandchildren; Allen (Samantha) Freeman, of Brecksville, Christopher (Sandra) Freeman, of Medina, Janice (Ted) Liszeski, of Elyria, Michael (Elaine) Freeman, of North Ridgeville, Patricia (Glen) Ailport, of North Ridgeville, 13 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Eugenia Piwowar and Clara Pawlak, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, William C., on May 7, 1980, and all of her brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 7, from 3-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a rosary will be held at 3:00 pm by the Rosary Guild of St. Stanislaus. Closing prayers will be held Friday morning at 11:30 am in the funeral home, with a funeral mass following at 12:00 pm, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Fr. David Novak, Parish Administrator, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
