Mary Ann Jessel

April 12, 1934 — August 2, 2008

Mary Ann Jessel, (nee Kosakowski) 74, of Birmingham, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness.


She was born April 12, 1934 in Lorain, and graduated from Clearview High School. She has been a resident of Birmingham since 1968.


Mary Ann worked as a beautician for 40 years, retiring at the age of 48. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, the Polish Women's Alliance and the Amherst Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 1442.


Mary Ann was an excellent homemaker and mother and enjoyed traveling.


Surviving is her husband of 51 years, John; her children, Sharon Jessel of Sandusky, Susan (Lewis) Gehringer of Wakeman, and Jon (De De) Jessel of Wakeman; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a brother, John Kosakowski of Lorain; sisters, Betty Heider, Theresa Tomasakowksi, Helen Olexa, and Stella Maholic all of Lorain.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Sophie (nee Konka) Kosakowski; brothers, Carl, Virgil and Phillip, and a sister, Fritz Kovach.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at St. Mary Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. James Holman, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
