Mary A. Montagnese, (nee Marotta), age 81, of Sheffield Township, died on Tuesday, August 15, 2005 at her residence, following a sudden illness.
Born May 30, 1924 in Marblehead, Ohio, she was a graduate of Lakeside High School in Danbury Twp. She has been a resident of Lorain for over 60 years.
Mary worked for General Industries, Elyria, as a secretary during World War II. She also worked at the former St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain in the dietary department for 9 years.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elyria, and enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas A. of Amherst, Richard J. of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Anthony C. of Sewickley, PA; a daughter, Victoria Essi of Amherst; 8 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; brothers, Joseph Marotta and Angelo Marotta both of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Anthony C. in 2003; brother, Samuel Marotta in 1996; and a grandson, Pete Montagnese.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Fr. Gaetano Menegatto, will officiate. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
