Mary Vorkavich (nee Radik), age 90, of Lorain, died on Saturday, April4, 2008, at Main Street Care Center, under the care of Crossroads Hospice, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on August 17, 1918 in Lorain, where she lived most of her life. As a young girl, she did move to New York for a short period, before returning to Lorain.
Mary was employed at Bendix, where she retired from in 1974. Previous to this, she worked at Wolfe Farms. She was a member of the Sister Circle at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.
Mary enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and baking, as well as traveling with her husband. She also loved and looked forward to her family Poker games.
She is survived by her daughters; Doris Plavsich and Nancy (Keith) Clark, both of Lorain, 3 grandsons, 1 great grandchild, her 2 brothers; Ben and George, both of Lorain, her sister, Fannie Beca, of Lorain, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Nicholas "Snag", in 1989, her parents; Stefon and Anastasia (nee Olexan) Radik, and her sister, Ann Rhinehart.
The family will receive friends for graveside services, on Wednesday, April 8, at 11: 00 am, at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Very Rev. Archpriest Basil Stoyka, Pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, will officiate. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling arrangements.
