Maurice M. Allen, age 61, of Cocoa, Florida, formerly of Lorain, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Wuesthoff Hospital, Rockledge, Florida, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 9, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, living in Lorain most of his life until moving to Florida in 1998.
He was a 1962 graduate of Admiral King High School, Lorain.
He was employed at Lorain Works US Steel/Kobe for 27 years as a 1st Piercer Operator, Burner and Heat Chaser in the 3 Seamless Dept. retiring in 1997. Prior to this he had worked at American Shipbuilding Company.
While living in Lorain he was a member of The Catholic Church of St. Peter.
Maurice was a member of the United Steelworkers Local Union #1104.
He also volunteered and played Santa Claus at the Lorain Palace for many years.
He enjoyed bowling and in his childhood years he was very active in roller skating, he also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sons: John C. Allen, of Orlando, FL, Retired OS1SW David J. Ostrander, of Belfair, Washington, Airforce MSGT Robert L. Ostrander, of Aviano, Italy, daughters: Kathleen M. Williams, Kimberly S. Allen, both of Cocoa, Florida, Pamela K. Rymer, of Bradington, FL, Sandra L. Peck, of Lorain, and 21 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Maurice C. Allen in 1966 and Marie R. (nee Levar) Allen in 1993.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 noon at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of The Catholic Church of St. Peter will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
