Melba Rose Fecik

Melba Rose Fecik (nee Smith), age 85, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Born June 10, 1937, in Reedsville, West Virginia, she married John Fecik in 1964 and came to Lorain that same year.

Melba was a member of Upon This Rock Church in Lorain.

Melba was a homemaker who enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir.  She also enjoyed reading and going with her friends to nursing homes to sing for the residents.

Surviving is her daughter, Rose Marie Hernandez of Lorain; grandchildren, Erik and Xavier; and a sister, Ethel Wozniak of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, John P. “Whitey” Fecik in 1987; brothers, Melvin, Fay, Nelson, Lee and Max; and sisters, Violet Braddock, Wanda Ward and Glenna Bates.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m.  Rev. D.J. Murray, pastor of Upon This Rock Church will officiate.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
