Mercedes Rodriguez, 96, of Lorain, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 21, 1911 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico; she lived in Manhattan, New York before coming to Lorain in 1992.
While living in Puerto Rico, she worked as a general office worker for Centro De Salud in Hato Tejas, Bayamon. She enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to Christian music and going to church.
She attended Iglesia Manatial Inc., Lorain.
Surviving are her daughters, Maria L. Rodriguez and Guillermina Cosme both of Lorain; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio Rodriguez and Francisca (nee Vasquez) Rodriguez; brothers, Alfredo Rodriguez and Gregorio Rodriguez; and a sister Luisa Rodriguez.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Iglesia Manatial Inc., 3501 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Rev. Juan Rivera, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
