Merle D. Grimm, age 83, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home.
He was born on March 28, 1930 in Tunnelton, W. VA, and had moved to Lorain in 1968. He served in the United States Army and worked as a custodian at McDonalds. Prior to working at McDonalds, he was employed at Gel Pak. Merle was a member of the First Community Church of God in Lorain. He enjoyed gardening and gospel music.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annie (nee Williams), sons; Merle Eugene (Casey), of Brookshire, TX, John (Dawn), of Chippewa Lake, OH, Melvin (Nina), of Lorain, daughters; Brenda (Gary) Gringle, of Elyria, and Julia (Steve) Forester, of Lorain, close family friend, Ruben Cancel, of Lorain, 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother, Dorwood, of Fairfield, OH and his sisters; Opal Spring, of Grafton, W. VA, and Betty Wiles, of S. Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette McIe, brother, Robert, and his parents; John W. and Zana (nee Martin).
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30 am, at the First Community Church of God, 1330 Cooper Foster Park Road, Lorain, OH 40053. The Rev. Garry Griffith, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon.
