Michael T. Kobylka, of Toledo, OH, and formerly of Lorain, died on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, following a lengthy illness.
Born on March 20, 1947 in Lorain, he lived in the Lorain area until moving to Toledo in 2013.
He was a 1965 graduate of Admiral King High School and served in the US Air Force during Vietnam in Air Rescue.
Mike served as a fireman with the Elyria Fire Dept. 30 years ago. Prior to this he worked as a bailiff in Lorain. He was an active and life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 425, Lorain.
Mike loved the outdoors, hunting and antiquing.
He is survived by his sons, Andrew (Ketina) of Toledo, Michael (Kerri) of Amherst; a daughter, Kimberly Velazquez; 9 grandchildren; sisters, MaryAnn Kobylka-Johnson of Denver, Colorado and Suzi Kobylka-Krieger of Medina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike Kobylka in 2002 and Mary M. (nee Horvath) Kobylka in 1995.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Rev. John Retar, pastor of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, will officiate. The Lorain Honor Guard will conduct military honors. To send online condolences go to
