Michael S. "Mike" Pastelyak, 83, of Lorain, died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 1, 1922 in Lorain, and has been a life long resident here.
Mike served in the US Marine Corps during World War II, having participated in action at Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
He worked as a security supervisor for Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake, for 27 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain, and enjoyed writing.
Surviving is his son, Michael Steve Pastelyak of Atlanta, GA, a daughter, Marlene Forst of Lorain, and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary (nee Kereanich) in 2003, his parents, Mike Pastelyak and Julia (nee Durindak) Pastelyak, sisters, Mary Herrman and Helen Stefek.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a parastas service will be at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, pastor of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
