Michael W. Raccio, age 62, of Lorain, died on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness.
He was born on January 12, 1947, in Lorain, where he resided his entire life. He was a 1965 graduate of Lorain High School. After graduation, he served with the United States Army.
Michael was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was employed at US Steel, as an electrician, for over 30 years. Upon retirement from US Steel, he then worked for Bearing Technologies for 4 years, retiring from there last year. In his younger years, he was an auxiliary officer for the Lorain Police Dept., assisting with local special events.
He enjoyed bowling and being a member of his bowling league for many years. He also enjoyed spending time and helping out with his grandchildren, along with camping, golfing, and watching sports, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers and Browns.
Michael is survived by his sons; Michael W., Jr. (Cynthia), of Phoenix, AZ, and Kenneth A. (April), serving with the Air Force, of Dayton, OH, daughter, Hollie L. (Pete) Vincent, of Lorain, his 4 grandchildren; Elizabeth, Marco, Alexis, and Ethan, and a brother, Joseph, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Kathy (nee Melbar), in 2005, his parents; Louis J., in 1988 and Mary L. (nee Tomko) Raccio, in 1985 and a sister, Carolyn Raccio, in 1958.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wed., at 9:30 am. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
