Miguel Gonzalez Jr., age 44, of Land O’Lakes Florida, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2021 in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
Born August 3, 1976 to Miguel and Brenda (nee Hoskins) Gonzalez in Elyria, Ohio, he spent many years in the Lorain area. After high school, he attended Cumberland University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Administration. He later moved to Florida where he lived for 20 years and served as a Sergeant for the Florida Department of Corrections.
Miguel had a black belt in jiu-jitsu and he also taught these classes in Florida. He enjoyed sports and played football while attending Cumberland University. He also studied the bible with the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Surviving is his daughter, Gracie Gonzalez; parents, Miguel and Brenda Gonzalez; step-mother, Julie Gonzalez and step-sister, Heather Humm.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eric Gonzalez.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 26 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Jim Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
