Monserrate Muniz

Monserrate Muniz (nee Prestamo), age 89, of Lorain, died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a brief illness.
She was born on September 9, 1921 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, moving to this area in 1954.
Monserrate was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She enjoyed cooking and listening to old, Spanish music, which made her reminisce her younger years spent with her husband.
She is survived by her two sons, Angel Luis Prestamo and Jose R. Muniz, both of Lorain, two daughters, Nereida Fuentes and Maria Muniz, both of Lorain, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Maximino in 2002, sons, Wilfredo Muniz in 1970 and Maximino Jr. in 1952, a grandson, Angel Luis Medina III, in 2007, and her sisters and brothers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where closing prayers will be on Monday at 8:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden. Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
