Myriam M. Gracia, 57, of Louisville, KY and formerly of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at her residence following a sudden illness.
Born August 26, 1953 in Corozal, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain with her family in 1955. Myriam graduated from Southview High School in 1972 and received an associated Degree from Lorain County Community College. In 2005, she moved to Louisville.
Myriam began her career as a beautician at Best Cuts, before working at J.C. Penny in Elyria. When she moved from Lorain, she continued to work as a beautician at J.C. Penney's in Louisville.
While living in Lorain, she was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. When she moved to Louisville, she joined St. Joseph Catholic Church. Myriam enjoyed throwing darts, having won several trips to Las Vegas from dart throwing competitions. She also loved to cook and have family gatherings.
Surviving is her mother, Georgiana (nee Alicea) Gracia of Louisville; brothers, Jose of Palm Bay, FL, Victor of Lorain, and Carlos of Louisville; 8 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mariano Gracia Sr. in 2001; and brothers, Mariano Jr. in 1985 and Raymond in 1979.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:45 am in the funeral home, followed by Mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate.
