Nicola M. Bogojevich, Sr. age 88, of Avon Lake, died on Friday, October 31, 2008 at Hearthstone at Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born on August 12, 1920 in Macedonia, Europe, living in Amherst most of his life.
He and his late wife, Vera, were the former owners of the Amherst IGA, they were in the supermarket business for 14 years altogether, before retiring in 1972. In retirement they wintered in Florida where he built apartment complexes. His last job was as general contractor for his son''s office building in Wellington, Ohio. He was one of the founding members of St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Church, Avon, and was instrumental in construction of the church building.
He enjoyed golfing and belonged to a number of various leagues and also loved fishing.
He is survived by his long time companion, Olga Andro, of Avon Lake, a son, Nick, Jr. (Sara) of Wellington, two grandchildren, Mark (Juanita) Bogojevich, of Phoenix, Arizona, Nicole DeAngelis, of North Ridgeville, 2 great grandchildren, brother, Dr. Vasil (Radmilla) Bogoevski, of Amherst and a sister, Vesa (Milosh) Angelovski of Macedonia..
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Vera (nee Gendron) in 1993, his parents: Mitre and Ristana (nee Dinevski) Bogoia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Services will be held on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Church, 38665 French Creek Road, Avon. Very Rev. Fr. Vasil Manasiev, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. A parastas service will be conducted Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
