Nilda Perez

Nilda Perez, age 74, of Lorain, passed away following a short illness on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at her residence while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice.

Born August 6, 1948, in Manhattan, New York, she moved to Lorain in 1987.  Nilda was a foster parent, having adopted two children from foster care.

Nilda was a devoted Christian who did missionary work for La Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Missionera and La Iglesia de Dios Incorporada.  She also served as Elder, led Sunday school, and served as a youth counselor at both churches.  She co-founded Abrazando Almas Heridas (Hugging Hurting Souls), a non-profit that helped the homeless. 

Nilda worked as an aide and cook at Bradley Bay Health Center in Bay Village.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, especially cheesecake, watching the cooking channel, and hosting Sunday family dinners.

Surviving is her husband, Ramon Perez; sons, Raymond E. Young and Joshua Perez; daughters, Esmeralda Reyes and Esther Perez; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Caridad Burguillo.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dywie J. Young; brother, Antonio Burguillo Jr; sister, Angela Burguillo; and parents, Antonio and Ramona (nee Vidal) Burguillo.

Private services will be held at a later date.
