Obie "Shortie" Corbin, age 94, of Lorain, died on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at his residence.
He was born on January 25, 1912 in Butler, Georgia.
He was employed as a foreman/pipefitter for US Steel, retiring in 1979.
Obie was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Lorain. He also was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local #1104.
Mr. Corbin and his late wife: Annie Mae fostered over 100 children from 1949 until 1960.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and raising rabbits. He loved animals, western movies, soap operas, watching wrestling and keeping up on current affairs.
He is survived by his sons: Robert of Cincinnati, Randy, Ronnie, Terry, all of Lorain, Obie Jr., of Columbus,and Vince Johnson, of Lorain daughters: Laura Devine, of Newark, NJ, Linda Corbin-McKenzie, of Cleveland, and Rosemary Brown, of Lorain, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years: Annie Mae (nee Pixley) in 1999, a son: Joel, his parents, Ben Corbin and Pinkey Corbin-Harmon (nee Everett) a son-in-law, Alan McKenzie in 2000, a grandson, Charles Cook, and a granddaughter, Delores Morris, on February 2006.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2006 from 10:00 until time of services at 12:00 noon at Wesley United Methodist Church, 220 7th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Coleman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
