Orlando Colon, age 50, of Lorain, died on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at St. Luke's Northland Hospital, Kansas City, MO, after a very brief illness.
He was born on August 17, 1956 in Lorain, where he had resided his entire life. He had just recently moved to Kansas City, MO to continue his employment with the Ford Motor Company in Kansas City. He was employed at the Ford Motor Company for 14 years at the Avon Lake plant location, previous to moving.
He was a 1974 graduate of Admiral King High School. After graduation, he went into the United States Air Force until 1978. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and the Puerto Rican Home.
Orlando enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. He had also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Teresa (nee Beltran), of Lorain, his 2 daughters; Diana Lydia Torres, of Florida, and Xiomara Alma Colon, of Lorain, his 2 sons; Orlando Raymon Colon, of Arizona, and Adam C. Colon, of Dayton, Ohio, his 11 grandchildren, his father, Serbellon Colon, of Puerto Rico, his 6 sisters; Yolanda Zayas, Mary Zayas, Lillian Torres, Alma Tirado, all of Puerto Rico, Nidia Silva and Nilda Montanez, both of Lorain, 12 nieces, 7 nephews, and his uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Colon (nee; Melero), who died September 21, 1988.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held the following morning at 8:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lorain.
