Paraska Ratycz (nee Dzyhalo), 84, of Westlake, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Welch Home in Westlake following a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 21, 1928 in Ukraine, she settled in Lorain in 1952. She has been a resident of Westlake since 1999.
Paraska worked in the housekeeping department of the St Joseph Hospital, Lorain, retiring from there after many years of service.
She was a member of St. John Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church. She enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren, listening to Ukrainian music and making perogi.
Surviving is her son, Peter (Dr. Joyce Lender) of Westlake; grandchildren, Connor, Madison, Adalee, Teagan, Elliette, Easton, Michelle, Jennifer and Mary; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Peter in 2000; her son, Michael in 2010; a daughter, Mary; brothers, Alex and John; sisters, Mary and Sophie.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of parastas at 11:30 am in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at St. John Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬3038 Charleston Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Steven Paliwoda, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
