Pasqual Ortiz Jr., 69, of Lorain, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. John Medical Center, Westlake, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 17, 1946 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in the 1950's. He graduated from Clearview High School in 1964 then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Pasqual worked on the chassis line at Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant for 25 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 425. He enjoyed working on cars, helping people out, Cleveland sports and his grandchildren.
Surviving are his sons, Stuart (Chrystal) Ortiz of Amherst and Warren Ortiz of Wellington; daughters, Alisha Ortiz of North Fort Myers, Florida and Jilian (Justin) Mason of Columbus; grandchildren, Willow, Liam, Paisley, Aidan and Caleb; sisters, Myrna (Herabed) Ghokassian of Cleveland, Norma Athey of Lorain and Nora Maffei of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pasqual and Migna Estrada; and son, Jose Hector Ortiz.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 8:45 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors. To send online condolences go to
