Pedro Ortiz, age 75, of Lorain, died on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 19, 1931 in Coamo, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain 36 years ago.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. He enjoyed inventing things and fixing things.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carmen (nee Beltran) Ortiz, sons: Pedro Ortiz-Beltran, of Juncos, Puerto Rico, Jorge Ortiz, of Lorain, Miguel A. Ortiz, of Jackson, New Jersey, Gerardo Ortiz and Victor M. Ortiz, both of Chicago, daughters: Carmen Rodriguez, of Lorain, Maria Mercado of Lakewood, New Jersey and Jessica Ortiz, of Lorain, Ana (Monin) Ortiz, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, brothers: Carmelo Ortiz, Juan Ortiz and Andres Ortiz all of Puerto Rico, sisters: Herminia Ortiz, Faning Ortiz and Maria Ortiz all of Puerto Rico.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel Plaza, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, and also on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:30 a.m. at the chapel. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
