Peggy J. Turner, (nee Rains), age 64, of Walton Hills, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Walton Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born August 26, 1940 in Neon, Kentucky, she lived in Vermilion for most of her life.
She worked as a stock clerk at Kmart in Lorain, and Fisher Big Wheel in Vermilion, and other area stores for a combined 20 years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Elyria, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and the outdoors.
Surviving are her sons, Charles "Chuck" C. Turner Jr. of Macedonia, Scott Turner of Vermilion, daughters, Grace Phillips of Lorain, and Charlotte Parker of Amherst, 14 grandchildren, a brother, Jack H. Rains of Sheffield Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Turner Sr., parents, Willie A. Rains in 1987, Grace Rains (nee Bentley) in 2000.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
