Peter Jessel, 98, of Lorain, died Friday, July 20, 2007 in Birmingham following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 15, 1909 in Marietta, PA; he was a life long resident of Lorain.
He worked for Lorain Works US Steel as a stationary engineer for 20 years. He then worked for St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain, in maintenance for 30 years, retiring in 1979.
Peter was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, and the United Steelworkers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed fishing.
Surviving is his son, John of Birmingham; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; a sister, Katie Bobinsky of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Mae B. (nee Malinowski) Jessel in 2005; and his son, James in 2002; a brother, Mike Jessel; and a sister, Stella Jessel.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th and Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Novak, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
