Petro "Pete" Orynchak, age 87, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 25, 1925 in Poland and had moved to Lorain in 1950 from Germany. He had worked for Fruehauf Trailer Company and then US Steel, where he retired from over 20 years ago. Pete was a member of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and reading and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Petro is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Teresa (nee Solowiej), his daughters; Mira (Lenny) McDermott, of Amherst, and Irene Orynchak, of Avon, and his 2 granddaughters; Hannah and Elizabeth McDermott. He is also survived by many extended family members located all throughout Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Dmytro and Kateryna (nee Zaremba) Orynchak, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 15th, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a Parastas will be held at 7:30 pm. Prayers will be held the following morning at 9:30 am, in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am, at St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave., Lorain. The Very Rev.
