Primitivo Torres

Primitivo Torres, 85 of Lorain, passed away January 29, 2013 at Autumn Aegis Home after suffering Alzheimer's for over three years.
He was born June 9th, 1927 in Aguada, Puerto Rico and had lived in Lorain since coming to work at Lorain Works US Steel in 1950. He retired in 1983. Primitivo was active in Sacred Heart Church till the Alzheimer's disabled him.
Primitivo loved helping others. He was a member of the Spanish American Businessmen's Association, and a member and past president of the Puerto Rican Home. He was also was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed playing dominos with his friends.
He will be dearly missed by his five sons, Naaman "Edwin" of Elyria, William, Dennis and Hiram of Lorain, Edgar of Wauseon and daughter Myrna of Lorain. Additionally, a special friend Doris Rosado who visited him daily at the nursing home. He is also survived by his brothers Juan and Ramon of Lorain. He also leaves behind a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
He was widowed twice, first by Digna (nee Aviles) the mother of his six children and then by Raquel (nee Lugo). He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angie Marie as well as great grandchildren, Maya Segovia and Corey, his sisters Ana Chaparro, with whom he was very close all his life, and Leona and Perfecta Torres and brother-in-law Santiago Chaparro. His father Nicolas Torres died in 1942 and his mother Maria Cardona in 1977.
His family will receive those who loved him in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The family will also receive friends on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain.
