Ramon Faria Jr.

Ramon Faria Jr., age 84, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at University Hospital in Elyria, following a brief illness.

Born October 28, 1938, in Lares, Puerto Rico, his parents, the late Ramon and Margarita (nee Soto) Faria, brought him to Lorain when he was 9.  During the early 1960s, he proudly served in the US Army.

After 32 years, Ramon retired from Republic Technologies in 2000 as a Team Leader in the bar mill.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, involved in the Cursillo Movement, served as a eucharistic minister, and member of the choir “Guitarras en Cristo”. 

Ramon was a loving man, faithful and good to his family.  He loved sports, traveling, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Edna Iris (nee Martinez); his children, Marisol (Eric) Mediavilla, Yvette “Betsy” Faria, Kenneth (Jen) Faria, Jesse Eric Faria, and Raymond Faria; grandchildren, Michael, Fabian, Roberto, Alexis, Corissa, Javier, Alexander, Joseph, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, Annalyse, Jocelyn, Ayden, Elyjah, and Sophia; brothers, Edward Faria of California, William “Bill” Faria of Akron; sisters, Carmen (Jose) Mendez of Lorain and Maritza (Ray) Nunez of California.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Kenneth “Kenny” Faria; and brother, Jesus “Jesse” Faria.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain.  Rev. William Thaden, will officiate.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.  The Amvets Post 32 will conduct military honors.
