Ramon “Ray” Garza Jr, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following complications from covid-19.
Born June 14, 1955, Ray was a lifelong resident of Lorain. He attended Holy Trinity School and was a 1973 graduate of Admiral King High School. Following high school, he attended Lorain County Community College and went on to work for U.S Steel for 35 years until his retirement.
Ray was a great father, co-parent, great friend to all. He enjoyed cooking, golfing and dealing with challenges. He could fix anything – if he couldn’t fix it, then it was not broken. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan and was a chef at the stadium.
Surviving is his son, Xaviour; brother Tomas (Helen) Garza; sisters, Rosa Garza, Rita (Thomas) Baker, Gloria Hill and Melisa (Robert) Petruska; friend and mother of Xaviour, Jessica as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Francisca (nee Alicea) Garza; brother, Daniel Garza and sisters, Maria Magdalena, Esperanza Garza and Lucia Garza.
Private services were held at Sacred Heart Chapel. Rev. William Thaden, pastor officiated. Dovin Funeral & Cremation handled the arrangements.
