Regina "Reggie" Katkic (nee Dembinski), died on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at her home unexpectedly.
She was born on July 25, 1919 in Lorain where she has lived her entire life.
A graduate of Lorain High School, she served in the US Marines from April 1944 until Dec. 1945.
Reggie was employed at Smith & Gerharts, Dalton Mills.
She was a life-time member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church until its recent closing. She was currently a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter.
She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital for over 30 years. A wonderful seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, and loved to bake.
She is survived by her son, Robert C. (Donna) Katkic, of Bedford, TX and daughter, Charlene Kalo of Amherst, 3 grandchildren, Bobby (Laura), Tim and Tom (Mana), sister-in-laws, Mary Dembinski of Lorain and Kathryn Gambish, of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles S. "Putch" on April 18, 2004, her parents, Marcin & Lucia (nee Marciniak) Dembinski, brothers, Leopold, Chester & Edward, sisters, Felicia Zehel & Theresa Niemiec and nephew, Richard Dembinski.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a mass at 10:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Havonec, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Disabled American Veterans will conduct full military honors.
