Rev. Pablo “Papi” Serrano, age 75 of Lorain, took his last breath on Monday, June 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife of 47 years, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at Autumn Aegis Retirement Community in Lorain, Ohio following an illness of twelve and a half years. He will forever and always be missed by those he loved dearly.
Born on January 25, 1948, to Nazario and Francisca (nee Rivera) Serrano in Humacao, Puerto Rico he attended Escuela Ana Rogue Humacao High School. He later moved with his family to Bronx, New York then Youngstown, Ohio before settling in Lorain, Ohio in 1974. He worked in the Elyria Foundry for a few years before attending the Bible Institute where he graduated in 1986.
Pablo was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Misionera for over 25 years as well as a member of Ministerio de Action. He loved going to church, bible studies, missionary trips, reading and traveling the world where he would preach salvation to the lost, visit the sick and those in prison. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, dancing and laughing. He was a beautiful soul with a very contagious smile who loved unconditionally.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Juanita (nee Espinosa) Serrano; sons, Antonio Reyes, Pablo Serrano Jr., Ricardo Reyes, Jose Serrano, David Reyes and Damian Serrano; daughters, Carmen I. Reyes, Carmen M. Serrano, Carmen D. Torres, Maria M. Serrano, Emelinda Reyes, Mary Lou Serrano and Elizabeth Reyes; 28 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; brother, Luis Serrano and sister, Rev. Carmen Sanchez.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his brothers, Rev. Agustin Serrano, Rev. Miguel Serrano, Deacon Julio Serrano, Cirilo Serrano and Deacon Felix Serrano.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Daniel Reyes will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
