Richard J. Brestovansky, Sr. age 66, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the Cleveland Clinic, following a short illness.
He was born on June 2, 1939 in Lorain and has lived here his entire life.
Richard attended Lorain High School and Ohio Diesel Technical School in Cleveland.
He was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic at Lorain Works US Steel from 1970 until his retirement in 2001. Prior to this he was employed at the former Fruehauf Trailor Company, Avon from 1961 until 1970.
He was a member of The Church of St. Peter, Lorain. He was also a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1104.
Richard enjoyed restoring old cars and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife 45 years: Carol A. (nee Chaplar), sons: Richard F. Brestovansky, Jr., of Lorain, Gregg J. Brestovansky of Sheffield Village, daughters: Lynn Hare, of Virginia Beach, VA, Denise M. Yorkdale, of Las Vegas, Nevada,Brandy Hering of Taiwan, 8 grandchildren, brothers: Kenneth Brestovansky of Lorain, Robert Brestovansky, of New York and Terry Brestovansky of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John C. and Bernice (nee Szarek) Brestovansky, and sister: Eileen Salgado on May 9, 2005.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at The Church of St. Peter. Rev. Fr. Chuck Henkle, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
